Ludvig Faddeev

Ludvig Faddeev is a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and one of the founders of modern mathematical physics. He made a decisive contribution to the solution of a three-dimensional inverse problem of quantum scattering theory, quantum three-body problem, in quantization of gauge fields and the creation of the quantum theory of solitons and quantum inverse scattering method. Born in Leningrad, USSR. The author of over 200 scientific papers and five books, a member of the Presidium of RAS and St. Petersburg Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician-Secretary of the RAS Department of Mathematics, a member of a number of foreign academies, including the Royal Society. He received numerous honours including the State Prize of the USSR and the Russian Federation, Dannie Heineman Prize in Mathematical Physics, Dirac Prize. Faddeev has also received state awards: the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, Order of Friendship of Peoples, Order of Merit for the Fatherland 3rd class. In September 2016 was announced a decision to establish a biennial international medal for work in physics named after Ludvig Faddeev.
